The case was filed on the 23rd of August 2022, and it was filed by two Paul Newman daughters who are Susan Newman and Elinor Newman. Elinor was born with Paul’s marriage to Joanne Woodward, while Susan was born with his marriage to Jackie White. Paul has six children out of which Susan and Elinor are two of his daughters. They addressed the issue to the board stating that the rights of eh foundation were granted to his own name, his image, and his intellectual property rights, but it was unconditional. It was revealed that the foundation allocates around 400,000 dollars each year.
Why Did Susan Newman and Elinor Nell Newman Sue Their Own Foundation?
It was revealed by the statement from the officials that the foundation allocates money to the daughters t donate to charities that are identified by the daughters and it had specific rules and regulations. The suit claimed that the amount received by the daughters was cut each year and it was direct charitable donations ranging from 200,000 dollars to 400,000 dollars. The foundation was created in 2008 three years before Paul’s death. The food incorporation is owned by nonprofit controls which fund private foundations from different taxes.
Susan Newman and Elinor Nell Newman Sue Their Own Foundation, Reason
The suit claimed that the foundation though was laid on good intentions, it had a couple of mismanagement, scandals, and practices that are rather questionable. The foundations were laid to preserve the charity needed but it was said by the suit that the organization is using the actor’s name and Paul’s effort to preserve and expand the charity is being attacked by the organization itself. The daughters when found out about the mismanagement and the crimes conducted demanded 1.6 million in order to repair the damage caused and donations are to be made to their chosen charities. Paul’s widow wife and other three daughters were not a part of the investigations and they are not a part of the lawsuit against it.
