He worked where he felt the happiest and was proud of his works in the TV and film industry. One of his commendable and appreciable works was in the ER, in which he played the role of Dr. Anspaugh. In the series he portrayed the role of the doctor who was at odds with the other staff members of the hospital and worked at the County General Hospitals, he was the Board manager of the hospital in a leading position. He also did a role in The West Wing, in over six episodes. John portrayed the role of former DNC chairman Barry Goodwin.

The actor was born in Seattle, Washington and also he grew up there. He was a graduate of Garfield High school. John also attended acting school during a training program. Apart from being an actor he also was one of the founders of Seattle’s empty space theatre, in 1973. He also gave his voice in one of the video games as a voice actor, in Half-Life2, Episode 2.
